Does the district have to provide day care transportation for my child?

It depends on the district’s transportation policy. In one case the district had a transportation policy that outlined the boundaries within which it would provide transportation for students. The student attended a day care center outside the transportation boundaries established by the district and the district refused to provide the student with transportation to and from day care. The court found in the district’s favor. This means that a district may establish arbitrary transportation boundaries, and refuse to provide transportation to students outside those boundaries as long as the deviation from the district’s policy is for the parents’ convenience rather than the educational needs of the child.
