What are the rules regarding mainstreaming special education children?
There is a legal presumption in favor of educating students with disabilities with their nondisabled peers. Districts may not remove a disabled child from a regular classroom unless the nature and severity of the disability is such that education in the regular classroom cannot be achieved satisfactorily.
Regan-Adkins v. San Diego Unified Sch. Dist., 37 Fed. Appx. 930 (9th Cir. 2002).
